Outstanding mint certified 1898 Trans-Mississippi
set, offered intact
Here's an exceptional opportunity for the collector of choice US mint
stamps. This is one of my favorite commemorative sets (second
only to the Columbians) and this complete set (Scott 285-293) was put
together by a discriminating collector who had a keen eye for quality
and demanded a certificate for everything (some stamps have multiple
certificates.) This extraordinary set is certified as
follows: 1c (2001 PSE), 2c (2000 PFC), 4c (2000 PSE), 5c
(2002 PSE), 8c (2005 PSE + 1987 PFC), 10c (2000 PSE), 50c (1999 PSE),
$1 (2002 PSE + 1991 PFC), $2 (1998 PSE). All stamps are sound
with fresh color and choice centering. The set overall is
lightly hinged with some stamps VLH or XLH (including the $2 key value.)
The 292 already has a graded cert (VF-XF 85, SMQ $1,300) but all others
are ungraded (this collector was assembling this set long before the
"grading mania" hit.) The $2 key is a magnificent
gem with a good shot at a 95 (SMQ = $5,600). This is
obviously a "one-of-a-kind" offering, so it's "first come,
first served" (earliest timestamp on the email will get
them.) If I can answer any questions, please ask.
If no one
takes it intact, I will break it down (if there are individual
stamps you're interested in, let me know.)
Scott catalog value: $4,275+++
Fair market value: $7,500-$9,000
PRICE: $6,250 (layaway available, please inquire)
